Background
Ana Ivanovic was born in Belgrade Serbia in November 6, 1987 to Dragana, a lawyer and Miroslav, a businessman, who have supported their daughter in pursuing her tennis dreams since she was a kid. Born in the family of athletics, Ana was also inspired by the talent of her younger brother, Milos, who plays basketball and her uncle who is a former footballer who is now a coach. However, football and basketball was not a dream which little Ana was chasing after.

Her ambition of being a tennis player appeared when she was watching a tennis game on TV at the age of four, having Monica Seles as the tennis idol. She caught the phone number of a local tennis club which she saw on TV and then she asked her parents to call the club and she started training since then. In 1999, Serbia was under pressure due to NATO bombings, it caused Ana train in the morning and sometimes she had to train a deserted swimming pool in the winter since there were no other facilities and places available for her.
She encountered a great fear when she was 15 years old thanks to a defeat. She have herself locked in the locker room, crying as she thought her new manager, Dan Holzmann would drop her since she thought she was not able to be a professional tennis player. However, Ann has been with her manager until now.
Although she loves shopping, watching movie and playing Sudoku, she is now ranked World No 2 and becomes a famous tennis player who has the World No1 tennis player Roger Federer as her favorite player. Ana is also a friend of Novak Djokovic, her compatriot who is now the world’s third-ranked tennis player. She’s also a big fan of FK Partizan Belgrade football team.
Right-handed Ana Ivanovic has turned professional since August 2003 when she was only 16 and on September 2007, she was selected to be a UNICEFF National Ambassador in her country along with a basketball player Aleksandra Dordevic and Emir Kusturica, a filmmaker and actor. She’s quite interested in the fields of child protection and education. She got to work in the vital issues she visited local school, though she was busy with several tennis competitions. She’s gold at heart.
